The living quarters

The part of the building in which people lived is 20 m long and has a central hearth. It may have been divided into several smaller rooms. Amongst other things, glass beads were found here, and a bronze brooch. In the excavated site, a part of the western section of this room still remains. Future excavations will be devoted to this section.

Most of the household probably lived and worked here, busying themselves with crafts and arts. Personal belongings and shared utensils were kept in chests or on shelves, unless they were hung from the walls.

There were benches along the walls where people sat during the day and slept at night.
