For the last five years Lofotr Viking Museum in Lofoten, North-Norway, has organized Lofotr Viking Festival during the first week of August. The event has now become a true Viking Market, where about 100 participants gather in these beautiful surroundings for five days of trading, activities, shows and much fun! More than 4.500 people visited our festival in 2009!
This years Lofotr Viking Festival will be held in week 31: August 4th – 8th, 2010. There will of course be a market place with demonstration and sales of various time-relevant handicrafts of good quality. There will also – as earlier years – be Viking Warriors, demonstration of weapons, archery and more…… If you have an interest in being a part of this, it can be your chance to combine a Viking-experience with a once-in-a-lifetime vacation in the beautiful Lofoten Islands!
The main theme this year is music, dance and theatre from the Viking Era. We are proud to present two different theatre groups with performances for children/families. There will be a variety of activities and games for people to see and do, and our goal is to make the most family-friendly festival ever! This year, we also try to focus more on the local/regional Viking history and participation. Lofotr Sagaspel is a historic theatre that tells the local history and the story of life at Borg, and this will be a part of the Viking Festival 2010.
We also want to take the opportunity of the festival days, and arrange work-shops to exchange different knowledge and unique techniques between the participants and audience.
