Lofotr Vikingmuseum is a part of  Museum Nord.  

Museum Nord is a consolidated museum for northern parts of Nordland county. Almost every museum in the region is part of Museum Nord. 

 

 

 

 

Museum networks

Lofotr Vikingmuseum has participated in a number of networks and projects, both national, international and within Europe. Pr today, the museum is part of Excarc and Destination Viking: 

 

 is a network for museum working within the archaeological field, built on site and working with experimental archaeology. 

Destination Viking is a new concept for travel experience. Partners from a number of countries have come together to develop a borderless tourism destination focusing on the Viking world. 

 

 


Awards and nominations

The European Museum of the Year Award was in 2013 awarded to a museum that has shown significant will and interest in innovative ways of sharing history with it´s visitors. Museums from all of Europe may attend the competition. A jury then select - nominate - 28 museum for the award. The award ceremony is in Tongeren, Belgia, in May 2013. Lofotr Viking museum considers it a great honour to be one of the nominees for the award. 

 

 

Museum of the Year is being awarded every year to Norwegian museums. The award aims to stimulate museums to present works that could inspire other museums. The winner could very well be a museum that has show special abilities to develop in relation to available means. Lofotr Viking Museum was 1 of 4 nominees in 2011. 

 

Årets Reiselivsbedrift - the tourism business company of the year - Lofoten  - is being awarded every year, by Destination Lofoten and the newspaper Lofotposten. Criterias for nomination are ability to cooperate, innovation, sustainability and visibility. The winner is being selected by the jury AND the people of Lofoten. Lofotr Viking Museum won the award in 2010. 

Food ambassador of Lofoten is being awarded annually at the "Naturligvis Matfestival" (naturally - food festival) in Lofoten. The festival lasts for 2 days and aims to create interest for and knowledge about food - especially locally produced, old receipts and old food culture. Lofotr Viking museum was awarded " Food ambassador of Lofoten" in 2010.

Tourism networks

Lofotr Vikingmuseum har alltid vært en engasjert partner i ulike reiselivsnettverk, formelle og uformelle. I dag er Lofotr Vikingmuseum er et aktivt medlem i Destination Lofoten, nettverket Lofoten Winter,  Lofoten Cruisenettverk og Arena-prosjektet "Lønnsomme opplevelser". Museet har også tett samarbeid med Visit Northern Norway og Innovasjon Norge. I tillegg deltar vi i Virke Reiselivs "museer som satser på reiseliv", Vestvågøy Reiselivsforum og andre nettverk. 

Destination Lofoten markedsfører Lofoten som reisemål. Visit Northern Norway markedsfører Nord-Norge som reisemål. Visit Norway markedsfører Norge som reisemål. Lofotr Vikingmuseum samarbeider med alle partene. 

 

 

Miljø og samfunn


Lofotr Vikingmuseum bryr seg om miljøet og forsøker å tilpasse sin drift slik at miljøbelastningen blir så lav som mulig. Blant annet innebærer det å sorterer avfall, minimere energibruk, være bevisst i forhold til hva vi kjøper inn (miljømerkede varer der det er mulig, mm.), drifte fjøs og stall på måter som er effektive og gir godt dyrehushold - og mye mer. Museet er sertifisert gjennom ordningen Miljøfyrtårn

 

 

Vi bidrar til lokalsamfunnsaktiviteter som har særlig fokus på barn og unge.
