VIKING FESTIVAL

The festival is an annual experience, with a live presentation of the history of the Viking Age. Vikings from home and abroad, markets, performances, concerts, battle shows, games and competitions – there is something for every taste and age.

The festival takes place at the Viking Ship Harbour, with period buildings such as boathouses, lots of Viking tents and beautiful natural surroundings. The first festival was held in 2004. We strive for high quality, authenticity and engaging content for the audience as well as for Vikings.

Volunteering at the Viking Festival

As a volunteer you get the chance to participate in a fun and eventful festival – from “the inside”. To create the best possible festival, we wish dedicated people to join our team. Various tasks are waiting for you, such as making sure that the current program goes according to plan, getting participants started around the various activities, keeping the area tidy, and many other interesting tasks.

All the qualification we need is a good mood and that you are dedicated to the tasks you are assigned to. Do you know a Viking Age craft? Are you handy? Do you cook? Do you collect herbs? We’re interested to know a little bit about what you can do, and what you’ve done before!

What do you get as a volunteer

  1. An experience of a lifetime. Meet many new friends and get exciting insights into festival work and Viking life.
  2. You get free food, free single residency, and the chance to attend courses and lectures.
  3. For volunteers who have participated throughout the festival, we offer a Viking feast in the Viking chieftain’s house.
