INFORMATION FOR GROUPS

The museum has many great offers for groups who want to visit us. We can offer guided tours, good food and drink, as well as a variety of activities.

Remember to pre-order the products you want to use.
Pre-booked groups will be met by a host/guide upon arrival and given an introduction to the history upstairs in our beautiful longhouse, before group members have the opportunity to explore the museum on their own.

GUIDING

For groups we offer short guided tours in the Chieftain’s House. The information in the exhibition and auditorium is provided using audio guides or smartphones (available in German, English, French, Norwegian, Spanish and Italian).

When ordering, have clear information about:

  • Date of arrival
  • Time of arrival
  • Number of guests in the group
  • Desired language on the tour

Ask the guests to bring their own smartphone and headphones if possible for easy use of the audio guide system. Using the phone does not incur any additional charges (roaming or otherwise). The system is powered over internal Wi-Fi.

FOOD AND DRINKS

Tasty food and flickering candles from oil lamps. The scent of tar and fire, beautiful decorations and not least – the knowledge that you are on important historical ground creates a good setting for a mealtime experience. The food is prepared from Viking ingredients and served in the Viking way. In the chieftain’s house, both the senses and the stomach can be saturated.

Choose from various menus. We serve in the chieftain’s house, either in the grand guild hall or the more intimate residential section. Depending on the menu, we can accommodate groups of up to 160 people. The feast hall can accommodate approx. 90 – 100 people, the living quarters approx. 50 people. Meals are served by Vikings in beautiful, authentic costumes.

When ordering have clear information about:

  • Date of arrival
  • Time of arrival

SAMPLE OF A PACKAGE DEAL

An example of a package for your group could be guiding + mead and stockfish.

In addition to a tour of the museum, we serve a small glass of the gods’ festive drink, the golden mead, together with stockfish from Lofoten. Stockfish was an important provision and commodity for the Vikings, making this combination the perfect little taste of the Viking Age.

ACTIVITIES

A farm that had many people, who played games, was seen as a farm with skilled people. They were fast and agile and well suited to battle. At Lofotr Viking Museum we make it possible for men and women to compete in the activities of the Viking Age. Bring out your inner Viking and join the action!

Add extra experiences during your group visit. For a long period in the summer, there are extra many activities available, such as rowing, horse riding for children, axe throwing, etc. We do not guarantee space for entire groups on the regular activities. If you want to secure a place, it must be booked in advance. The booker pays for separate events/activities for the group. We arrange the event to suit you and your group. Based on the time available, season and group size, we make suggestions – whether the group is large or small.
