In December in Lofoten, it passes into the polar night season when the sun goes below the horizon at the start of the month. Inside the longhouse with the Vikings it is cozy and warm, and listening to our guides can bring you backwards in time. At this time of year, it is extra atmospheric to join the Viking Feast in the evening. Open Wednesdays and Saturdays until 19th of December.
In November you can experience the atmosphere of flickering lights inside the longhouse with the Vikings. The opening hours are changing and Lofotr Vikingmuseum will be open on Wednesdays and Saturdays (1200-1600), thoughout the month. Don't forget the possibility of a Viking feast every evening!
In October it is autumn in Lofoten, and throughout the month the museum is open Mondays-Saturdays, 1200-1600. Every evening there is also a Viking Feast for individuals and if you're lucky you might see the northern lights dance over the longhouse.
September is a beautiful month in Lofoten. Until September 13th we are open Monday till Saturday between 12:00-16:00, and from September 14th we are still unclear. In August, the summer season in Lofoten is waning, but the Vikingmuseum is still active. There will be Viking games, trips with the Viking ship and the outdoor café will be open in the Viking harbor thoughout most of August. The Vikings' warm lunch takes place until mid-month.
In July, very much is going on at the Viking Museum and it is open daily 11:00-18:00. The midnight sun season is over around the middle of the month, but it's still very much buzzing with life. Viking games, Viking ship, the Vikings' warm lunch is served in the Chieftain's House, several skilled craftsmen are present and both the indoor and the outdoor cafe are open.
In June the summer season properly starts at the Viking Museum with open every day 11:00-18:00! There is a lot of activity and a lot going on. Viking games, Viking ship, and the outdoor café opens up in the Viking Ship Harbor; many more artisans are present, and the Vikings' warm lunch is served in the Chieftain's House; and the museum café in the arrival facility opens fully.
Spring is a great time in Lofoten! In May the animals come out on pastures around the museum when weather permits, and the Viking ship comes on the water. It's bright outside and the midnight sun season returns just before the month changes to June. Opening hours are increasing and in May the museum is open every day between 10:00-17:00.
In April, spring is fast approaching, the days are much brighter and the dark nights are starting to disappear. Winter with the Vikings in Lofoten is coming to an end, and a warmer time is dawning.
March is a great month for seeing the northern lights, the days are quickly brighter and brighter, and the weather changes frequently. There is much to see in the world's largest longhouse from the Viking era. There are also many days of extra activities, not least during the winter holidays.
