Sail or row a Viking ship

Feeling the ship move forward with the help of the sail, or by pulling your weight at the oars in step with the others, is quite the experience.

(July 2021)

Rowing a Viking ship is an activity suitable both for young and old, big and small – and, of course, you need no prior experience. The captain will teach you what you need to know.

Sailing or rowing takes about 20-30 minutes and is one of the most popular activities at the museum. The event is arranged several times a day (subject to weather conditions). The activity is included in the normal admission price. It is not possible to make reservations for individuals, just go to the Viking Ship Harbour and wait your turn. If the ship has to be rowed instead of sailed, you will have to take the oars yourself and row in step with the others.

Reservations can be made for special groups or events. There will be an additional charge for all reservations. Contact us for information about prices Group activities

The Viking ship will be moored at the quay when not in active use (in the spring and autumn too, when there are no rowing or sailing events). Welcome aboard!
