The Viking Ship Moorings brynje-element

The Area

Down by the lake there is a reconstructed boathouse for longships, together with a blacksmith’s workshop and a primitive ironworks.

There are several information boards in the area. From May to September, the Viking ship will be moored at the quayside and you are welcome aboard. In the summer you can help sail or row the ship. You can also try your hand at axe-throwing, archery, riding Nordland horses in a ring (children only), and a number of other activities from 15 June to 31 August. It takes about 15-20 minutes to walk along the gravelled pathways from the Chieftain’s House to the Viking Ship Harbour down by the sea (approx. 1400 metres). There are good spots for taking photographs along the way.
